Class B to Class A Upgrade ELDT Theory

Who needs it: current Class B holders upgrading to Class A. What it gets you: the Class A knowledge test for an existing Class B driver.

Already hold a Class B? You still need ELDT before the DMV will upgrade you to Class A, but only the upgrade curriculum, which is shorter than the full Class A course. Nixon runs the $1,200 behind-the-wheel upgrade program at the Pomona yard.

  • Required for every Class B holder moving up to Class A
  • Shorter than the full Class A course
  • Filed to the FMCSA registry on completion

Questions drivers ask

I already have a Class B. Why do I need ELDT again?

ELDT covers the class you are moving into. A Class B ELDT record does not satisfy Class A. The upgrade theory course exists so you do not have to repeat the full Class A curriculum.

How much is the whole B to A upgrade at Nixon?

Theory is $20 online. Behind-the-wheel upgrade training at Nixon is $1,200, including the combination vehicle and the DMV skills test trip.

The behind-the-wheel half happens at Nixon

Theory gets you the permit. Our trucks and instructors in Pomona get you the license. Standard is $2,000 for 15 hours with the DMV test trip included, $300 down.
