Questions drivers ask

Do I need Class A ELDT theory before I come to Nixon?

Yes. Under 49 CFR Part 380 you must complete ELDT theory before the DMV will administer the Class A knowledge test, and you need the permit before behind-the-wheel training can count. Most Nixon students knock the theory out online the same week they call us.

Does Nixon behind-the-wheel training still count if I did theory somewhere else?

Yes. Theory and behind-the-wheel are separate ELDT records. Your theory provider files the theory record; your behind-the-wheel provider files the range and road record. Both must be on the registry before your DMV skills test.

How long is the Class A theory course?

Most drivers finish in two to three hours. There is no seat-time minimum under the federal rule; you move on when you pass each section.

The behind-the-wheel half happens at Nixon

Theory gets you the permit. Our trucks and instructors in Pomona get you the license. Standard is $2,000 for 15 hours with the DMV test trip included, $300 down.
